Report: Hareidi-Religious Sector Establishes Own Student Union
The hareidi-religious sector has reportedly established their own student union as of Wednesday, in order to further their unique needs in coordination with colleges and universities.
Students across the country apparently received text messages this week urging them to band together and stand up for their rights as a unique sector of the population.
"Today, when there are more and more hareidi students in Israel, there is need for that population to assert its rights and needs [with colleges and universities]," the text message read. "We are happy to rise to the challenge and bring you the good news: the establishment of the Hareidi Student Union in the Land of Israel."
"Everything that we can do to assist, to help, or to arrange matters with the college or university you attend is our responsibility - whether that means petitioning the Knesset, changing conditions at the institution you attend, or asserting the rights of students according to Israeli law," the message continues.
The text messages do not reveal the exact organizations behind the establishment of the union, nor of a specific Chairman or institution where the union will allegedly be based. As of this writing, confirmation that such a Union has indeed been established remain unconfirmed.
