A man fighting with one of Syria’s rebel armies captured the moment his position was destroyed by tank fire on film.

The brief footage of the incident, which was posted to YouTube, shows a Syrian tank rapidly approaching the position, turning, and firing a shell directly at it.

The Syrian civil war has been widely covered on YouTube, with rebel fighters frequently uploading footage from the battlefield, as well as evidence of war crimes by regime forces. Some of the footage has displayed various rebel factions’ human rights abuses, including floggings, torture, and extrajudicial execution.

The Syrian civil war, which is well into its third year, has killed well over 100,000 people and has forced an estimated 6 million civilians out of their homes. The war is now threatening to split Syria into multiple countries – a result some analysts say is now a best-case scenario.
