Rabbi Naim Yosef, 92, passed away Thursday morning.
Rabbi Yosef was the brother of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef. He left behind nine children, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The rabbi was initially hospitalized after he tripped and fell in his home.
His family said that he also suffered from a serious infection in his whole body, and that doctors had a difficult time treating it.
The details of his funeral have not been announced.
Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the brother of the deceased, is the spiritual leader of the Shas movement, and was Chief Sephardic Rabbi in the past.
