The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the police have arrested four Palestinian Authority Arabs on suspicion of being responsible for a robbery that turned into a murder in October of last year.

According to information that was cleared for publication on Wednesday, the members of the PA gang were arrested at the beginning of July over the murder of 61-year-old Itzik Algabi in the Sharon area town of Avichail, five miles north of Netanya. At least one of the suspects has admitted his involvement in the murder.

An initial investigation has found that the four Arabs, residents of the PA town of Tul Karem, were running a crime ring that specialized in car thefts. On the night of the murder, the four decided to break into a home in Avichail.

The four Arabs had broken into Algabi’s daughter’s residence, which was located in the backyard of his own home. At that point, Algabi, who had been having dinner with his family and wanted to retrieve something from his daughter’s housing unit, walked in and caught the burglars, who then stabbed him in the chest using a sharp object.

Algabi collapsed from the stabbing and was found several moment later by members of his family. His death was pronounced shortly after.

The police have indicated that the interrogation of the four suspects will continue over the next several days.
