Video: Aircrew Rescued at Sea after IAF F-16 Crashes
An IAF F-16 jet crashed into the sea opposite Gaza Sunday, after its engine failed.
The crew – a pilot and navigator – ejected safely and parachuted into the waters of the Mediterranean. They were rescued by the IAF's Unit 669 and taken to Sheba Hospital for checks, but they are reportedly in good health.
The cause of the malfunction is not known. The jet was on a training flight.
The IAF said it would suspend F-15 and F-16 flights temporarily, as the cause of the crash was investigated.
