An IDF soldier was injured Saturday afternoon in an attack by Palestinian Authority Arabs hurling rocks near the PA capital of Ramallah.
The soldier was wounded in the line of duty while escorting a Border Police unit patrolling around the Arab town of Beit Lakiya.
Hundreds of PA Arabs ambushed the patrol, confronting the officers with a violent demonstration. Some 300 protesters who blocked the highway and began hurling large rocks at the officers, police sources said.
The Israeli forces, who were trapped, responded with crowd dispersal methods.
One of the troops was injured in the melee. The soldier received initial medical treatment on site, and was then evacuated by ambulance to Assaf HaRofeh Medical Center, where he was hospitalized.
Rock attacks by PA Arabs are actually a form of terrorism and can be quite deadly. In some cases they have in fact successfully managed to take Jewish lives. In other incidents Jews have managed to escape, but just barely.
