MK Zevulun Orlev (Jewish Home) fired a warning shot at the government Wednesday after a senior IDF officer relayed a message to residents of Givat HaUlpana that they need to leave their homes.
Earlier in the day, Judea and Samaria Division Commander Brig. Gen. Haggai Mordechai met with Beit El Mayor Moshe Rosenbaum and asked him to ask the residents of Givat HaUlpana to voluntarily leave their homes, in order to avoid a confrontation.
In response, Orlev warned the government that he may decide to bring the Outpost Legalization Bill for a vote in the Knesset next week unless Brigadier General Mordechai is "seriously reprimanded" for the conversation with Rosenbaum and unless the government finds a way to express "deep remorse for what happened this morning."
Orlev called the IDF warning "a serious breach of the understandings reached between the prime minister and the coalition."
Orlev and MK Yaakov Katz (National Union) had agreed to postpone a vote on the Outpost Legalization Bill after receiving a written promise from the government that all moves to evict residents of Givat HaUlpana would be frozen.
