French Foreign Minister Lands in Israel with Victims’ Bodies
French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe landed in Israel shortly after dawn Wednesday with the bodies of the four victims of the Toulouse terrorist attack and 50 relatives. The victims will be buried at the Har HaMenuchot cemetery in the Givat Shaul neighborhood of Jerusalem at 10 a.m.
Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon met the French Foreign Minister at the airport and thanked him and the French government for their cooperation after the murders. Juppe is expected to meet with President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu during his visit.
In Toulouse, police are engaged in a shootout with the suspected Al Qaeda terrorist who gunned down Rabbi Yonatan Sandler, his sons Aryeh and Gavriel, aged 6 and 3, and 8-year-old Miriam Monsonego. Rabbi Sandler taught at the Otzar HaTorah school, where the attack took place, and Miriam was the daughter of its principal, Rabbi Yaakov Monsonego. He was praying in the school at the time of the cold-blooded murders.
All of the victims are dual citizens of France and Israel. After their El Al plane landed at 5:45 a.m., ambulances took their coffins to Jerusalem in preparation for the burials.
