Talia Ben-Eliezer, daughter of Labor MK Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, was arrested on Wednesday at the Kennedy Airport in New York as she was making her way back to Israel.

Ben-Eliezer was arrested after airport authorities discovered that an arrest warrant had been issued against her by the State of Florida.

The suspicion is that Talia Ben-Eliezer, who came to the United States for medical treatment, purchased pain relievers without first acquiring the necessary documents.

According to media reports on Thursday evening, the arrest warning against Ben-Eliezer said she is a “fugitive”.

The reports said that Ben-Eliezer tried to explain to American customs authorities that she is the daughter of a senior Israeli government official, but was nevertheless taken to a police station in Queens.
