One of the biggest frustrations encountered by Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria concerns delivery of items purchased at stores or over the web. The customer is informed by the company that either it will not deliver the item, or that it will supply it only with an exorbitant surcharge.
This occurs even with heavy items where the price includes delivery and in cases where the Jewish community is a mere quarter of an hour drive from the distributor.
This discrimination may come to an end now thanks to the intervention of MK Danny Danon the deputy Knesset Speaker. Following a complaint from a consumer in the city of Ariel who was informed of a surcharge by the Home Center Chain, Danon intervened with the Minister of Trade Industry and Labor Shalom Simhon to whom he wrote "there is no distinction between Ariel and Tel Aviv, a surcharge due to to the city's location beyond the Green line constitutes discrimination should have no place in the State of Israel.
Following his success with Home Center Danon has pledged to continue the fight till all the chains abolish such discrimination.
