Just two weeks before Gilad Shalit returned home after nearly five and a half years in Hamas captivity, students at the Modern Orthodox Ramaz Lower School in New York City were praying and hoping for his safe return.

The following video shows some of the students’ activities for Shalit. The song they are seen learning is a song by famous Israeli singer Shlomo Artzi. Entitled “We Don’t Need More than This,” the song includes the line: “Let him come home once again.”

While Gilad was being held captive, Artzi dedicated this song to him.

During the time of Shalit’s captivity, the Bnei Akiva youth movement initiated activities in Jewish communities througout North America to express solidarity with his family.

These activities included a worldwide “rally” involving 100 Jewish communities from all over North America.
