IDF killed one Arab north of Shechem during an early morning search for Islamic Jihad terrorists. The military said the suspect fled and did not obey soldiers' orders to halt. search for terrorists.

The dead man was identified as 22-year-old Ibrahim Sarhan, who was shot twice, according to his uncle, who was on his way to a mosque.

The need to enter Arab areas to arrest terrorists comes on top of a sharp escalation of terrorist attacks from Hamas-controlled Gaza, where terrorists have attacked Sderot and surrounding areas with mortar shells and rockets in the past two days.

Arabs in the PA also are becoming riled up following increasingly harsh comments by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas aimed at the United States, which he accused on Tuesday of “continuing Israel’s racist policies.”

Washington is hosting the Quartet – the European Union, Russia, United Nations and the United States – in what so far has been a failed effort to continue the diplomatic process on terms acceptable to Israel and Abbas. The Quartet has objected to the PA’s unilateral effort to bypass talks with Israel and go to the international body for acceptance of its territorial and political demands.
