Sixteen youths from Israel and the Diaspora have been named as finalists in the annual international Bible Quiz (Chidon HaTanach). The quiz will take place in Jerusalem on Independence Day.

This year's theme is “Love of Israel,” a concept referring to love of the Jewish people. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will attend the event, as will Education Minister Gidon Saar. Netanyahu's son Avner was one of last year's finalists, after taking top honors in the national Bible Quiz.

The 16 finalists were selected in a series of earlier quizzes in Israel and abroad. Four spots were given to the Israelis who took the top spots in a quiz held in Ofakim, and the 12 contestants from the Diaspora won their spots in a quiz last week in the city of Ariel in which 52 youths took part.
