MK Alex Miller, Chairman of the Knesset’s Education Committee, toured on Sunday the educational institutions in the Shomron (Samaria) region. Accompanying Miller on the tour were committee member MK Yaakov Katz and Shomron Mayor Gershon Mesika.

The tour was designed to show members of the Education Committee up close the status of schools and kindergartens in the region. The situation of these institutions is a difficult one and the residents blame Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak for this.

The tour began at the school in Yakir which has received the Israel Prize for Education in the religious sector. From Yakir the tour continued to the community of Bruchin, where the MKs saw the kindergartens located in overcrowded caravans.
