The Knesset's State Control Committee visited Ben Gurion Airport Thursday to investigate issues of security. INNTV spoke to the chairman of the committee, MK Yoel Hasson, who said that the committee was following up on the State Comptroller's report regarding safety problems in the airport. He also noted that Israel's international flight safety status has recently been downgraded.
An Airport Authority official said that the policy at Ben Gurion is to report as many problematic events as possible, but that many of these reports sound more dangerous than they really were. He also said that many incidents result from pilot error.
