The student union of The Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya, a private college located in central Israel, has begun an initiative to help in the rehabilitation efforts of Kibbutz Beit Oren in the Carmel following the fire.

On Thursday, the students from IDC travelled to Beit Oren, which was severely damaged by last week’s fire, in order to help rebuild its kindergartens so that they are ready for the children on Sunday, when they return from their Chanukah vacation.

“We decided as a student union to open ourselves to each and every mission that we get from the north,” said Yair Yitzhar Melechovsky, head of the IDC Herzliya student union. He added that members of the IDC student union also spent last Shabbat with the evacuated residents of Beit Oren and will continue to spend time in the area helping out as needed.

The students were involved, among other things, in raking, mopping, and dusting.
