"YouTube has the ability to connect people regardless of where they may be in the world," said the YouTube co-founder. "We are always amazed by the many creative and innovative ways that people use the site to engage and communicate with each other.  This is an incredibly tech-savvy country and there is no doubt that Israelis have a vital and significant role in continuing to strengthen community engagement on YouTube".

Meir Brand said: "We know from our users that YouTube is a big part of their everyday lives and we are thrilled to have Chad Hurley join us here in Israel to share his vision for YouTube."
