A previously unknown Palestinian Authority jihadist organization called the Revenge Battalion issued a new threat against Israel, saying it will not abide by the Hamas regime's dictates.

In a communique provided to Arutz Sheva by the Institute of Terrorism Research and Response (ITRR), the Battalion warns Israel over its counterterrorism operations in Gaza. The organization specifically states that it is not bound by a recent Hamas decision to halt rocket attacks from Gaza on Jewish towns in the Negev.

"We in the Revenge Battalion are ready to continue with the jihad until the liberation of every part of the land occupied by Israel," the group's statement said. In the view of Muslim fundamentalists and PA-based terror groups, all of the State of Israel is occupied Arab-Islamic territory.

"Islamic Revenge Battalion" was the name for a worldwide organization suggested by an active Egyptian jihadist in a message to Al-Qaeda leaders Ayman Al-Zawahiri and Osama Bin-Laden several years ago. The objective of the group was to have been carrying out targeted attacks against anyone deemed to have harmed Muslims worldwide.

In addition to its threat against Israel, the Battalion condemns the arrest of its members by the regime currently controlling the Gaza half of the PA. The group demands that the Hamas immediately "release all our prisoners from [its] jails."

ITRR analysts see the reach of the Revenge Battalion to be very limited at the current time, as it will face severe challenges in carrying out its threats. Nonetheless, ITRR adds, depending on its technical capabilities, the group is likely to continue targeting the south of Israel as it attempts to assert its independence from Hamas.
