The weather will be comfortable in most cities around the world during the 25-hour Yom Kippur fast, which begins at sundown Sunday. Local and light showers may fall in the northern and central regions of Israel on Sunday.

In Jerusalem, temperatures at night will be 18 degrees Celsius/64 Fahrenheit, rising to 26 C/ 79 F during the day. The temperature range in Tel Aviv will be 21-29 C/ 70-84 F and 20-22 C/68-91 F in Be’er Sheva.

In New York and most East Coast cities, occasional rain will end on Sunday, and it will be partly cloudy at night, with a low of 58 degrees Fahrenheit, followed by daytime highs around 76 F under mostly cloudy skies. There is a 40 percent chance of showers developing during the day.

Residents of the Chicago area can expect scattered thunderstorms on the eve of Yom Kippur and a low of 53 degrees. On Monday, the forecast is for high winds, mostly sunny skies and a high of 64 F.

In Atlanta, the thermometer will range from 60-81 F, without rain. The forecast for Los Angeles is a nighttime low of around 63 F, and Monday will be mostly sunny with highs in the low 80s.

Europe and Australia

Overcast skies will prevail in London Sunday night, when a low of 10-11 C/51 F is forecast, followed by party cloudy skies in the day and a high temperature of 21 C/70 F. It will be slightly cooler and foggy at night and partly cloudy in the day, with a high of 23 C/73 F.  

In Amsterdam, the temperatures will range from 11-12 C/53 F to 18 C/65 F in the day under cloudy skies,

In Melbourne, cloudy skies will prevail at night with lows around 10-11 C/51 F, followed by party cloudy skies on Monday and highs of 19-20 C/66-68 F.
