The latest Kassam rocket fired at Israel landed this morning (Sunday) in the western Negev, causing no damage. Last night as well, terrorists fired a rocket into Israel, and two on Friday. Almost 15 rockets have been fired in total since the ceasefire went into effect exactly a week ago, but Israel has not responded.

Arutz-7 asked MK Yuval Shteinitz (Likud), a former Chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee how Israel should react. "Do you think Israel will stand by quietly until a major attack leaves it with no choice but to respond?" he was asked. Shteinitz said, "Israel already has no choice but to say that the ceasefire has clearly been violated and is therefore over. This ceasfire is very bad from our standpoint."
Speaking at the weekly cabinet meeting this morning, Defense Minister Amir Peretz said that the Palestinians are "partially keeping" the cease-fire. Commentator Michael Freund opined, "I guess he means the 'fire' part, because they have certainly been ignoring the 'cease'...." click here for the full Fundamentally Freund blog on this issue.

The PA, for its part, prefers to concentrate on supposed Israeli violations, announcing that an Israeli navy boat had fired at an Arab vessel off the Gaza coast. The vessel caught fire, but no injuries were reported. The PA said Israel's attack was a ceasefire violation, but preliminary reports indicate the targeted ship itself was violating the ceasefire by smuggling weapons into Gaza.

A Chinese paper quoted a PA report Saturday, alleging Israel had violated the “fragile cease-fire 70 times since it came into effect last Sunday.” The article stated that “most of the breaches had taken place in West Bank, as Israel announced the truce was only applied to Gaza Strip.” The ceasefire agreement itself states that it applies only to Gaza.

In other security news, at the Hawara Checkpoint outside Shechem, a young Arab was arrested after three pipe-bombs were found on him. Israeli troops detonated the bombs in a controlled explosion. Troops near Ramallah were targeted in shootings and rock-throwing incidents on Friday.

Egyptians Search For PA Arabs
Egyptian security forces searched for four PA Arabs Saturday night who, according to intelligence information, plan to attack Jewish tourists in the Sinai.

The Arabs were said to have crossed into Sinai through the poorly guarded Gaza-Egyptian border last week.

The Egyptian troops have been going door-to-door at the seaside vacation homes along the Sinai coast.
