A large IDF force entered the Marazi area and began clearing large areas of overgrowth generally used to camouflage Kassam-launching terrorists. Fierce gunbattles ensued between IDF forces stationed atop roofs and armed Arabs; the IDF reports that 17 Arab terrorists were killed in Gaza today.

IDF forces also operated against terror infrastructures in Beit Hanoun, in northern Gaza. Some of the forces entered on foot.

Israel Air Force craft also attacked three terrorist cells, as well as one Kassam launching cell and a tunnel in the Karni Crossing area. Warnings had been received of an attempt to smuggle terrorists into Israel via the tunnel.

Two days ago, as well, IDF forces entered northern Gaza and killed several terrorists. A bomb was detonated against the Israelis, but no one was hurt. A Hamas headquarters building was bombed shortly afterwards from the air.

Further north, in the Sharon region near Petach Tikvah/Hod HaSharon and environs, police are on heightened alert for fear that a terrorist has infiltrated. Some arrests have been made, and special police units have been brought to the area.

Just two days ago, a would-be suicide terrorist was caught in Tzahal Square in downtown Jerusalem - between Jaffa Rd. and the Old City - wearing an explosive vest. The three policemen who arrested him received a certificate of honor from Prime Minister Olmert today.

In Shechem (Nablus), IDF forces are surrounding a building in which Fatah terrorists are hiding out. Six terrorists have been reported killed, and dozens have already given themselves up.
