Tannenbaum: Hezbollah Tried to Recruit Me

(IsraelNN.com) The Hezbollah captors of Elhanan Tannenbaum, the Israeli who was captured early on in the intifada and released in last year’s “prisoner swap,” tried to recruit him to spy for them upon his return to Israel. So says the former colonel and businessman in an interview with the Israeli daily Ma’ariv. According to the terms, as reported by Tannenbaum, he would have received 10,000 dollars a month for inside information from within the Air Force and from the Information Corps.

He was not asked to commence spying immediately, Hezbollah aware that he would be subject to intensive investigation and debriefing by the IDF upon return. Rather he would have begun working for his former captors after his release from the investigation.
