Border Guard Thwarts Attempted Weapons Smuggling at Taibe Checkpoint

A team of Border Guard officers stationed at the Taibe checkpoint, noticed a Chevrolet driving in a suspicious manner near the security fence in the direction of Israeli territory. The unit commander called for his officers to proceed and stop the vehicle, which appeared to be attempting to avoid inspection. They asked the driver, a 34-year-old resident of the village of Um al-Fahm, the reason for the way  he was driving, but the individual was unable to provide a clear answer.

Upon further inspection, it was revealed that the driver had a pouch around his hips in which were dozens of 9 mm. bullets, and in a hidden compartment under the driver's seat there was a Carl Gustav automatic weapon. A police sapper was called in to handle the contents of the car, which further revealed a stun gun, and a large sum of money.

The driver was taken in for further questioning.
