Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said Teheran would continue to bypass sanctions even after the US had penalized a number of companies for violating sanctions which had been imposed on Iran in connection to its nuclear program, according to a report in Voice of America.
On Friday, the United States had imposed a fresh round of curbs on a several Iranian and foreign companies, banks and airlines. The new measures came just over two weeks before talks between Iran and six world powers on Tehran's nuclear program are to resume in New York.
"The sanctions are cruel and illegal and we fulfill our duty in circumventing them," Zanganeh was cited as saying by the oil ministry's news website Shana. “We do not acknowledge these sanctions,” he added.
