Poland Marks 75 Years Since Nazi Invasion - Don't Let History Repeat Itself in Ukraine

A series of commemorative events marking the September 1, 1939 Nazi invasion of Poland, and the start of World War II, has not only shown itself to be a lesson from the past, but has inspired a warning from from Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk: "Don't let history repeat itself now in the Ukraine."

Events took place across the country, with the main ceremony taking place in the port city of Gdansk at 4:45 a.m., the very hour the Nazis started to bombard Polish positions and initiate their invasion.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk laid a wreath of flowers at the monument to the victims of the Second World War at the Polish port city and then gave a speech in which he compared what is now taking place at the border between Russia and Ukraine to the events at the beginning World War II.
