On this first day (Monday) of the 2014-15 school year, President Reuvin Rivlin spent time at the Dimona Sde Yitzhak School. He met with all the children from every class, and gave a special welcome to the new first graders who were 'joining the ranks' as they left their kindergartens.
Dimona Mayor Benny Bitton, accompanied by President Rivlin, had a festive opening day ceremony, where both the mayor and the president wished the children a good, productive school year, full of learning.
From there, President Rivlin went to the school at Kibbutz Sa'ad, which serves as the regional school, where he planted a sycamore tree next to a spot where a rocket had exploded causing severe damage to the building that had stood there. He then said a prayer - for the tree to take deep root, and grow and blossom in days filled with peace.
