The defendants accused of the hit-and-run of Lee Zeitouni three years ago in Tel Aviv will be brought to trial in three months in Paris, according to a report by Kol Yisrael (Israel Radio). Per the report, the trial is expected to last but one day with the verdict being rendered within a month of that date.
Eric Robic, the driver, has been charged with homicide, failure to assist a person in danger and unlawful escape to avoid responsibility. The maximum he can receive under French law is 10 years. Claude Khayat, who was in the car with him at the time of the accident, is only being charged with unlawful escape, and fleeing the scene of a crime.
Both fled Israel to avoid prosecution here, as there is no extradition with France.
