Lesotho Prime Minister Asks SADC to Help Restore Order After Attempted Coup

Lesotho’s Prime Minister, Thomas Thabane, has asked the SADC (Southern African Development Community) to come and help restore order in the country, following a reported attempted military coup today (Shabbat).

“The army is getting out of control, running around the streets, threatening people, and are openly saying they want my neck,” Thabane said during an interview with Voice of America.

According to him, he fled to South Africa for the sake of his family’s safety after receiving intel that he had been targeted for assassination.
