Cairo Talks to Resume this Morning

The indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas by Egypt are expected to resume in Cairo this morning (Monday), just hours away from the midnight deadline end of the ceasefire which has been in place over the past five days.

The head of Hamas's political bureau, Mussa Abu Marzuk, said yesterday (Sunday) that Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had rejected Cairo's proposal, and that the points the Israeli delegation had responded by adding amendments to the proposal had brought the situation round full circle to where the discussions had started from.
