After 3,000 Years Jewish Qtr. in Old City Now Wheelchair Accessible

As the result of a special 20 million shekel project formulated by the Jerusalem Municipality, Bituach Leumi, the Jerusalem Development Authority, and several other institutions, the Jewish Quarter in the Old City is becoming fully accessible to the physically challenged and limited for the first time in 3,000 years. 

Wheelchair-bound visitors will be able to access the the Jewish Quarter, the City of David, and many other places they could not get to before, and will include both tourist and residential areas. At present three lanes have been completed around the Jewish Quarter and the Muristan (in the Christian Quarter). Three additional lanes are to be completed within the coming year.
