C'tee to Consider NIS 40 Million for Judea and Samaria

Chairman Nissan Slomiansky of the Knesset Finance Committee is expected to try, Monday, to get the committee to approve a 40-million-shekel budget transfer for communities in Judea and Samaria (Shomron) to help them deal with the security situation in the wake of the June 12th kidnap-murder of Naftali Frenkel, Gil-Ad Sha'ar and Eyal Yifrah from a Judean junction. The transfer is in conjunction with a cabinet decision, but Slomiansky took it off the agenda last week when he saw it would not pass for lack of support from Yesh Atid members and Member of Knesset Elazar Stern (Hatenu'ah).

Slomiansky made it clear to Arutz Sheva', Sunday, that a majority is not guaranteed and the situation is complex given Yesh Atid's stance on a number of issues, headed by the zero-percent value-added sales tax on apartments for qualified first-time buyers. At the same time, Judean and Samarian sources expressed hope, Sunday evening, that Slomiansky would be able to raise the majority needed for passage.
