Over the course of this weekend the ISA (Israel Security Agency) foiled several attempts by groups of hackers in the Middle East who attempted to break into and disrupt several governmental and private websites.
According to the GSS (General Security Service, i.e., the Shin Bet), the attempts were in conjuncture with Iran's "Jerusalem Day" efforts in support of Palestinian disruptive activities in both Gaza and Judea and Samaria. The hackers were hoping to knock out the targeted websites in one fell swoop for an extended length of time.
The Shin Bet's Cyber Protection Division aided the IDF in preventing the disruption to Israeli internet services. They have indicated that a high alert will remain in place in the coming days.
