Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said, Monday afternoon, that the Protective Edge counter-terror operation in Gaza was advancing according to plan and would expand until it met its goal of bringing long-term quiet to the citizens of Israel.
Speaking at a security meeting with Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon, Chief of Staff Benny Gantz of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Southern District IDF Commander Sami Turgeman, Netanyahu also said, "The achievements of the fighting in the field are significant. I am impressed by the action to damage the [terror] tunnels. It is achieving results beyond what we expected. On behalf of Israel I tell all soldiers in the field that we are proud of their courage and praying for their safety. A military campaign is a complex thing and there are difficult moments. I am sure that with combined forces we will reach our goal."
