Haifa Police Asked to Stop Arab Anti-IDF Protests

Mayor Yona Yahav of Haifa called on the police, Friday, to prevent local Arabs from holding demonstrations, Friday afternoon and Saturday evening, to protest Israel's Protective Edge campaign against Gaza terror, according to Kol Yisrael government radio. The police are prepared with large forces to control the demonstrations.

The city had information that most participants in the rally, organized by the National Democratic Assembly (Hebrew acronym Balad) party and the Sons of the Village movement, are not Haifa residents. With that in mind, Yahav said most of the participants will come to the city to cause tension and there is concern over the potential for disorders.
