Auschwitz Poster Pulled from Major US Retailers
Several popular retailers became the center of a new controversy on Monday, after being forced to recall "decorative posters" labelled with the phrase "Arbeit Macht Frei," German for "work sets you free" - the slogan notoriously on the sign for the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp during the Holocaust. The phrase somehow slipped past the notice of several popular stores in the US, according to ABC News, including Walmart, Sears, and Amazon.com. Several rushed to recall the item.
