MK to Minister: 100 Bus Lines Violate Shabbat

Member of Knesset Moshe Gafni of the hareidi United Torah Judaism party asked Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz to intervene in the matter of Sabbath violation by more than 100 public-transportation lines around the country.

Responding to an investigation by journalist Idan Yoseph, Gafni cited one company's requirement that employees work on Shabbat, making observant Jews ineligible to work there, among other issues whic also include a special Haifa bus line and service to Jewish communities, as well as summer and winter time, among other issues. Gafni said, "It's unthinkable that a situation like this exists and that the Transportation Ministry is not acting to prevent these serious Sabbath desecrations."
