UNESCO Declares Beit-Guvrin Caves World Heritage Site

The World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization declared by consensus, Sunday, that the caves of Beit Guvrin-Maresha in the southern part of central Israel to be a World Heritage Site.

The site is the latest addition to the other Israeli sites already listed as part of World Heritage: Tel Aviv's White City, Masada, the Biblical Tels, the Incense Route, the Baha’i Holy Shrines in Haifa, the Old City of Akko, and the Nahal Me'arot Nature Reserve, listed in 2012.
