Suspect Arrested in Baruch Mizrahi Murder

It was disclosed, Monday afternoon, that police special forces arrested a suspect a month ago in the Passover-eve murder of Police Commander Baruch Mizrahi on the Tarkumiya route near Hevron, based on precise information from the Israel Security Agency (ISA, General Security Service, Shin Bet, Shabak). Officers surrounded the terrorist's home in the village of Idna and ordered him to come out, which he did without resistance, as did his 18-year-old son.

The suspect was identified from DNA samples taken from the more than 50 bullet casings that were believed to be fired from a single weapon. He is Ziyad Awad, one of the more than thousand security prisoners released in 2011 in exchange for Gil'ad Schalit, who was abducted by Hamas and its allies in 2006.
