UAE Renews Travel Advisory for Lebanon

The United Arab Emirates warned their nationals, Sunday, not to stay in or travel to Lebanon in light of the dangerous security situation until further notice, according to local media. The warning came only a month after the UAE loosened the previous advisory.

The warning came after a terrorist suicide bombing on Friday at an Internal Security Forces checkpoint on the Beirut-Damascus highway at Dahr al-Baidar in east Lebanon. A police officer was killed and 33 were wounded, about the same time as a police raid on two hotels in Beirut's Hamra district, after security agencies received information that an Islamist group was preparing to assassinate Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
