Olmert Distanced from Deal Following His Conviction

Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert had been working at mediating a security deal between an Israeli company owned by an American foundation and the government of Kazakhstan, but in light of his recent conviction in the Holyland corruption case, the American owners asked Olmert to distance himself from the deal. Channel 2 reports.

The reports indicate that the deal with Kazakhstan was under wraps and that the American company had hired Olmert to lobby for the deal, due to his good relations with Kazakhstan’s President. Olmert had been promised a significant commission in the event the deal came through.
