‘Zero Surprises’ in US Talks with Iran

Israel and the United States reached new understandings regarding the ‘Zero Surprises’ policies pertaining to negotiations between the 5+1 world powers and Iran, “Regarding a permanent agreement on the issue of the nuclear program,” a senior Israeli official told Haaretz.

Reports indicate that within the framework of the understandings, the US informed Israel ahead of time of its intentions to hold direct talks with Iran this week in Geneva. Last week, US Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns spoke with Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yuval Steinitz, and updated him about the impeding direct talks.
