The father of 17-year-old Nadim Nawara has given permission for doctors representing an international committee to carry out an autopsy on the teenager, one of two Palestinian Authority residents killed during rioting on May 15th between the Bituniya checkpoint and Ofer Prison, northwest of Jerusalem. The examination is scheduled to finish by Wednesday.
The father claims his son was killed by a lead bullet, which he displayed, and not by a rubber bullet, as claimed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). As of Monday, the bullet had not been submitted for laboratory testing. The soldier who allegedly fired the shot has been suspended, pending the results of an IDF investigation, which includes the testimony of other personnel at the scene at the time of the incident.
