The Knesset Labor, Welfare and Health Committee approved for its second and third readings, Monday, a government bill to expand benefits to Holocaust survivors. Merged with the measure were personal proposals by Committee Chairman Haim Katz and Member of Knesset Elazar Stern (Hatenu'ah).
Katz said, "We will make every effort to approve the measure in the plenum already in the next few days. Every day, 40 Holocaust survivors depart this world so there's no time to waste. The legislation is not perfect but it's the best we could approve under the current limitations."
