New Ukranian President Stands Up to Moscow

Petro Poroshenko, the Ukraine’s new President announced in his inaugural speech on Saturday that his country would never give up Crimea and would not compromise on its course towards a closer relationship with Europe.

"Citizens of Ukraine will never enjoy the beauty of peace unless we settle our relations with Russia. Russia occupied Crimea, which was, is, and will be, Ukrainian soil," Poroshenko proclaimed. Poroshekno also stated that he said just that to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday at a World War Two anniversary ceremony in France.
