Livni in Favor of Mandating Prenuptial Agreements

The government’s Ministerial Law Committee will hold a special meeting today (Sunday) regarding the proposal of a new law which, if approved, would require all couples seeking to be married in Israel to sign a prenuptial agreement.

The proposal, spearheaded by Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, is an attempt to prevent religious divorces from being dragged out, or from husbands from refusing to give their wives a “get” (religious divorce papers).
