Israeli Filmmaker Wins Silver in Student Oscar Competition

A young Israeli filmmaker won the second-best foreign movie student Academy Award on Saturday, at a film-school version of the Oscars, according to AFP. Hadas Ayalon of Tel Aviv University took silver for "Paris on the Water," a 27-minute narrative film which tells the story of Batya, played by Miriam Zohar. The story follows a has-been in the acting world who, after years of frustration, must decide between a long-awaited opportunity to return to the big screen and her husband (Ilan Dar).

According to Israel Hayom, the film is set to premiere at the Tel Aviv University student film festival in June.
