The Samarian (Shomron) Jewish community of Itamar dedicated the Nofei Aroma neighborhood on Thursday, including Gil'ad Street, named for Gil'ad Zar, a security officer for the Samaria Regional Council, who was murdered by terrorists 13 years ago, this week. Construction began right after the murder of five members of the Fogel family in March, 2011, and Thursday's ceremony coincided with the third anniversary of charges being filed against the confessed killers. Another street is slated to be built.
Chairman Gershon Mesika told those in attendance at the dedication ceremony, "This is a definitive answer to the terrorists who were wrong to think that they can break the spirit of the Jewish people with heinous murders of women and innocent infants." He added, "The community of Itamar proves again and again the meaning of the words national strength."
