'Yemenite Village' Marks 10th Anniversary in Shiloach

The Yemenite Village (Kfar Hateimanim in Hebrew) marked the 10th anniversary, Thursday of its return to the Shiloach (Silwan in Arabic) neighborhood, south of Jerusalem's Old City. The village, currently housed in Beit Yehonatan and Beit Devash, perpetuates a community of Yemenite Jews who immigrated to the neighborhood in 1882, which grew to about 130 families who had to leave because of Arab rioting in the early part of the 20th century.

The Ateret Cohanim organization, which initiated the return, helped the current residents mark the occasion. They were joined by Knesset members Tzipi Hotovely (Likud Beytenu), Motti Yogev (Jewish Home) and Yoni Chetboun (Jewish Home).
