Released to House Arrest and then to Exile

The Honenu legal-aid organization reported, Sunday, that an 18-year-old resident of the central Israel community of Yad Binyamin, south of Tel Aviv, who studies in the Samarian (Shomron) community of Adei Ad was banished from Judea and Samaria for a year, Sunday, after he was held and interrogated by the Israel Security Agency (ISA, General Security Service, Shabak, Shin Bet) for more than two weeks and released to house arrest.

Honenu said detectives returned him to the ISA facility, interrogated him some more and handed him the banishment order. Honenu responded by saying, "The issuing of an administrative distancing order as a punitive, vindictive step against a youth against whom no evidence was presented is instructive regarding the issuing of administrative orders. Unfortunately the establishment is sending the message that it is tired of conducting democratic processes and is harassing hilltop youth in every way while trampling their rights as Jews."
