Report: Ein-Yahav Produce Free of Shemita Restrictions

Rabbis have ruled that produce from the moshav community of 'Ein Yahav on the Jordanian border in the Arava region, about a quarter of the way from the Dead Sea to Eilat, will be free from restrictions of the Shemita agricultural sabbatical year in Israel, which begins with the Rosh Hashanah Jewish New Year in the fall, according to a Friday-morning report by Makor Rishon.

Responding to queries by Ein Yahav's "Yofi Shel Yerakot" (Beautiful Vegetables) agricultural union, various groups of rabbis, using the latest technology, determined that the moshav's fields are outside the biblical boundaries of Israel and therefore exempt.
